Overdraft Consent Message

Due to recent regulatory changes, ATM and everyday debit card transactions can no longer be protected by Courtesy Overdraft without customer consent.  (See below for full description of our Courtesy Overdraft protection service.)  The Juniata Valley Bank Courtesy Overdraft service protects you from incurring additional third party charges if your checking account becomes overdrawn due to checks, ACH (Automated Clearing House) transactions, online bill payments and/or previously authorized recurring debit card transactions.

To provide customer consent to include your ATM and everyday debit card transactions in our Courtesy Overdraft protection service, please take one of the following steps:

Protect your checking account with our Courtesy Overdraft service!

When checking account funds run low and we find ourselves with insufficient funds to cover our transactions, it can be embarrassing, not to mention costly, when it comes to merchant fees. Courtesy Overdraft is a service provided by The Juniata Valley Bank to reduce the impact of this situation.  Courtesy Overdraft is a value-added service provided to qualifying customers which may cover your checking account up to a limit of $500* when your checking account has insufficient funds to cover a transaction.

For your maximum convenience, in addition to checks, the program includes automatic electronic payments (ACH) and previously authorized recurring debit card transactions.  For those customers who opt-in for extended protection, ATM transactions and Express Check Debit Card transactions will also be included in the service. 

Fees for overdrafts are $35 per item.

Qualifications for Courtesy Overdraft

For Best, Value 50 Plus, Free, Free 50, Interest Checking, Best 50, Best 50 Plus and Money Market checking accounts:

  • You must be a current Juniata Valley Bank customer with a checking account that has been open for at least 60 days.
  • You must be a customer in good standing.
  • You must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Your account may not be dormant.
  • You must have a U.S. address on the account of record;  no foreign addresses are accepted. 
  • Your Social Security Number must be valid.

 *The Juniata Valley Bank’s overdraft service is discretionary only. A waiting period of 60 days after account opening is typical to qualify for the discretionary overdraft service. Overdrafts are covered whenever possible. There is no guarantee that items will be paid even if they were in the past.


Savings Overdraft Protection

Eliminate the embarrassment of an overdrawn Checking Account with Savings Overdraft Protection. If your Checking Account becomes overdrawn, transfers of $50 increments will be made from your Statement Savings Account or your Money Market Account to your Checking Account to satisfy the overdraft amount.  To qualify for Savings Overdraft Protection:
